Confidential, secure, fully managed IT for single and multi-family offices in Hong Kong.

A family office is one of the most demanding IT clients there is — and one of the least well served. A small team manages significant, multi-jurisdiction wealth, holds extraordinarily sensitive information, and has principals who expect everything to simply work, discreetly. Yet most family offices have no in-house IT and are quietly running on consumer-grade setups that would not survive a determined attacker.

PTS gives Hong Kong family offices a quiet, fully managed IT service built around the things that actually matter here — confidentiality, security, and reliability — delivered by a British-owned, ISO/IEC 27001-certified firm that has been on the ground in Hong Kong since 2001. We are vendor-neutral and we do not publish our clients’ names; discretion is the default, not an add-on.

Hong Kong is now home to over 3,380 single-family offices — up around a quarter in two years — and the government, through InvestHK, is actively attracting hundreds more. Many are being set up from scratch this year. Whether you are establishing a new office or tightening up an existing one, this is exactly the work we do. We also support hedge funds and brokers and provide IT and M&A due diligence for private equity.

Why family offices need a different kind of IT partner

The IT needs of a family office look nothing like those of a normal small business of the same headcount. Six things set them apart.

Confidentiality is everything

The information a family office holds — wealth, holdings, family matters, succession — is as sensitive as it gets. Who can see what, where it is stored, and who you let near your systems matter more than any feature. We design for confidentiality first.

A high-value, low-profile target

Family offices are prime targets precisely because they combine real wealth with small, lean teams and limited defences. Wire-transfer fraud, executive impersonation and email compromise are the threats that actually hit family offices — and they are aimed at people, not just systems.

Lean teams, no in-house IT

Most family offices run on a handful of people and no IT department. You need a provider that is your IT function — proactive, accountable and reachable — not a break-fix shop you call once it has already gone wrong.

Wealth and family across borders

Family offices rarely sit in one place. Principals, family members, advisers and assets span Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and beyond, across homes, offices and time zones. Your IT and security have to follow them securely.

Principals who expect white-glove service

Principals and senior staff have no patience for friction. Support has to be fast, personal and discreet — a known, trusted contact who understands the office, not an anonymous ticket queue.

Specialist systems and counterparties

Beyond email and documents, a family office connects to banks, brokers and custodians and runs portfolio, accounting and reporting platforms. The IT has to support those securely and reliably, whatever you’ve chosen to run.

What we do for family offices

A complete, discreet IT function — so the office runs and the family’s information stays protected.

Fully managed IT and helpdesk

We act as your outsourced IT department: a responsive, multilingual helpdesk, proactive monitoring and maintenance, device and identity management, and a single trusted point of contact who knows your office.

Cybersecurity and fraud defence

Hardened identity and access (MFA, conditional access), endpoint protection, email security tuned against impersonation and wire-fraud, awareness for the team, independent backup, and a clear incident-response path. See cybersecurity.

Microsoft 365 and secure collaboration

A properly configured and secured Microsoft 365 tenant — encrypted email, secure document storage and sharing, retention and data-loss prevention — so the family and advisers collaborate without leaking.

Portfolio, accounting and reporting systems

Reliable setup and support for the portfolio-management, accounting and reporting platforms family offices depend on, plus secure connectivity to your banks, brokers and custodians.

Principals’ personal and residential IT

The line between office and home is thin in a family office. We can extend the same standard of security and support to principals’ personal devices, home networks and residences — discreetly.

AV, boardroom and meeting technology

Quiet, reliable audiovisual and meeting-room technology for the boardroom and principals’ offices — video calls and presentations that just work, without a technician in the room.

Security for a high-value target

Security is the part of family-office IT that is most often underdone — and the part where the consequences are worst. The threats that hit family offices are rarely sophisticated malware; they are fraud and deception aimed at people: a spoofed email from a “principal” authorising a payment, a compromised mailbox quietly watching for a wire instruction, a fake counterparty changing bank details at the last moment.

We protect against exactly that, with controls sized for a lean team rather than a bank:

  • Strong identity — multi-factor authentication and conditional access on every account, so a stolen password isn’t enough.
  • Email and impersonation defence — anti-phishing and anti-impersonation controls, and a verification process for payment and bank-detail changes.
  • Endpoint protection and patching — managed, monitored devices that stay current.
  • Independent, tested backup — so data survives ransomware, error or device loss, and can actually be restored.
  • Awareness for the team — because the people are the target; a brief, practical programme that fits a small office.
  • A clear incident response path — someone to call, and a plan, if something does happen.

This is institutional-grade security without an institutional-sized team — and it is configured quietly, so it protects without getting in the principals’ way.

Setting up IT for a new family office

With hundreds of family offices establishing in Hong Kong, a large part of our work is standing up a new office from scratch — properly, and fast. We handle the whole technology setup so you can focus on getting the office running:

  • Office network, Wi-Fi and secure internet
  • A secure Microsoft 365 tenant, identity and email
  • Hardened, ready-to-use laptops and devices for the team and principals
  • Security baked in from day one — not bolted on later
  • Secure connectivity to banks, custodians and your chosen platforms
  • AV and meeting-room technology for the boardroom

Because we are vendor-neutral, we specify what’s right for your office and budget — not what earns us a margin — and because we procure and deliver it ourselves, you get one accountable partner from setup through to ongoing support.

Discretion and confidentiality by default

Family offices choose us as much for how we work as for what we do:

  • We don’t name our clients. You will not find your family office in a case study or a logo wall.
  • A single trusted contact who knows your office, backed by a vetted team — not a rotating, anonymous helpdesk.
  • Confidentiality agreements and careful handling of access and data as standard.
  • Least-privilege access — our people only touch what they need to, and it’s logged.

Family offices across Hong Kong, China and Singapore

Family wealth and family members rarely stay in one jurisdiction. We deliver from owned offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai (through our locally registered Mainland China entity), so we can support a family office whose principals, advisers or interests span the region — one coordinated service, local-language support in each market, and the cross-border experience to handle the awkward parts (including data-residency questions and connectivity into Mainland China). For legal, tax or regulatory advice we’ll work alongside your professional advisers — we handle the IT.

How we work

Every engagement starts with a confidential conversation about your office, your principals and your concerns. From there we propose a clear, costed plan — typically a fully managed monthly service, right-sized to your office.

We don’t publish fixed prices, because a two-person office and a twenty-person multi-family office need very different things. We scope your situation and put a clear monthly figure in writing — no fixed packages, no long lock-in. Talk to PTS to start, in confidence.

Family office IT FAQs

What IT does a family office need?

At a minimum: a securely configured Microsoft 365 environment, strong identity and access controls, endpoint protection and patching, independent backup, email and fraud defence, and reliable day-to-day support. Beyond that, secure connectivity to banks and custodians, support for portfolio and accounting systems, and often the principals’ personal and residential IT. We provide all of it as one managed service.

Do you work with single-family offices and multi-family offices?

Both. Single-family offices (SFOs) managing one family’s wealth and multi-family offices (MFOs) serving several both face the same core needs — confidentiality, security and reliability with a lean team. We right-size the service to either.

Are family offices really a target for cyberattacks?

Yes — and disproportionately so. The combination of real wealth and small, under-resourced teams makes family offices attractive targets, particularly for wire-transfer fraud, email compromise and impersonation of principals. These attacks target people and process, which is why we pair technical controls with payment-verification practices and team awareness.

We have no in-house IT — can you run everything?

Yes. Most of our family-office clients have no IT staff. We act as your complete, outsourced IT department — proactive, accountable and discreet — with a single trusted point of contact.

Can you set up IT for a brand-new family office in Hong Kong?

Yes, and it’s a large part of what we do as Hong Kong’s family-office sector grows. We stand up the whole environment — network, secure Microsoft 365, devices, security and connectivity — on your timeline, with security built in from day one.

Can you support our portfolio, accounting and custodian systems?

Yes. We provide reliable setup and support for the portfolio-management, accounting and reporting platforms you run, and secure connectivity to your banks, brokers and custodians. We’re vendor-neutral, so we support what you’ve chosen.

How do you keep our information confidential?

Discretion is built into how we operate: we don’t name clients, we work under confidentiality agreements, we use least-privilege access logged to named engineers, and you deal with a single trusted contact rather than an anonymous queue.

Do you support family offices with family or operations across Hong Kong, China and Singapore?

Yes. We deliver from owned offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai, with local-language support and the cross-border experience to support principals, advisers and interests across the region. See China IT services.

How is the service priced?

Bespoke per office, based on headcount, sites, the systems you run and the level of support and security you need. We don’t publish fixed rates — we scope your office and return a clear, costed monthly proposal.
