PTS is an independent technology design consultancy for office fit-outs in Hong Kong. We design the audiovisual, IT, structured cabling and server rooms as one integrated system — and assure them through to commissioning.

We are your independent, vendor-neutral technology design consultant: the specialist who sets the technology standard for a fit-out and designs it across every discipline, working alongside your project manager, architect and MEP engineers — in the same meetings and to the same programme. Because we are paid by you and not by a manufacturer, the design serves your brief, your budget and the way your people work, not a product line or a reseller’s margin.

Design is the first stage of the work, not the only stage. When you want PTS to deliver the build too, that is IT projects and infrastructure; for the audiovisual discipline in depth, see our audiovisual design consultancy; and once it is built, we can run the estate day to day. One team can take you from a blank floor plate to a working, supported workplace.

What we design

One integrated technology design across every discipline — so the AV, the network, the cabling and the server rooms all serve the same plan, rather than arriving as separate, conflicting silos.

Audiovisual & experience design

The front-of-house arrival, boardrooms, town halls and the meeting spaces in between — designed as an experience, not a parts list. More on AV design.

Meeting rooms & collaboration

Room-tier standards and certified Microsoft Teams and Zoom rooms, so every space behaves the same way and starts with one touch. More on room installation.

IT networks & infrastructure

The network, edge and wireless that everything else depends on — designed for density, resilience and the way the floor is actually used. More on Wi-Fi design.

Structured cabling & the floor grid

A flexible, future-proofed cabling grid under the floor, so desks and AV positions move by re-plugging rather than re-cabling — carrying today’s layout and the next several.

Server rooms & resilient IT cores

Comms and server rooms designed for the load they carry — cooling, resilient power and the riser strategy that keeps the IT core stable, serviceable and ready to grow.

Control, automation & smart-building integration

Scene-based control and sensors that tie displays, audio, lighting and blinds into one logical room — and integrate cleanly with the wider building systems.

The independent design consultant role

The value of an independent technology design consultant is in the word independent. We do not sell the equipment we specify, so the design answers to your brief alone — and we stay accountable for the result all the way to sign-off.

We are vendor-neutral by design. We run open, like-for-like tenders and recommend the right platform on merit — removing the conflict of interest baked into firms that only design with what they sell.

One integrated design across disciplines

AV, IT, networks, cabling, power and cooling are designed together, by one team, so the disciplines fit instead of clashing on site — the single biggest source of fit-out rework.

Part of your wider design team

We work alongside your project manager, architect, MEP engineers and main contractor — in the same meetings, speaking RIBA work stages — as the technology voice on the project, not a vendor bolted on at the end.

We assure the build, not just draw it

We set the performance each space needs, then QA the integrator’s installation against the design and the standards, and sign off commissioning — so what gets built is what was designed.

How a design engagement works

Every engagement moves from ambition to a documented, assured result through the same disciplined stages — and you can stop at design, or have us carry on through delivery.

1. Brief and concept design. We understand the spaces, the people and the ambition, then set the design intent and a concept the whole team can rally around.

2. Detailed design and documentation. Drawings, specifications, bills of materials and room standards an integrator can build from — with the standards written in.

3. Tender and vendor selection. We run an open, like-for-like tender, evaluate responses on merit, and pin down cost before you commit — not after.

4. Installation assurance. We hold the integrator to the design and the standards, catching issues on site before they are built in and become expensive to undo.

5. Commissioning and handover. We test against the specification, commission the spaces, and hand over a documented, supportable result your team — or ours — can run.

Many clients engage us for the design and assurance only, then deliver with their own contractor; others have us carry the project right through — see IT projects and infrastructure for the delivery side.

Why choose PTS as your technology design consultant

Plenty of firms will design a meeting room. Far fewer can design the whole technology picture — and stand behind it on site and after handover.

Genuine multi-discipline engineering

AV, networks, structured cabling, power and cooling, designed to recognised engineering standards — CIBSE and IES for lighting and cooling, TIA and ISO/IEC 11801 for cabling, AVIXA for AV — and to our own ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000 disciplines.

Independent and vendor-neutral

No manufacturer allegiance and no installation margin to protect. The design serves your brief, and the tender is run on merit — which usually improves both the outcome and the price.

Built for demanding spaces

Trading floors and dealing rooms, headquarters front-of-house, and multi-floor estates where consistency and uptime are not negotiable. We design for the spaces that simply cannot fail.

Design that we can also run

Most consultants hand over a drawing and disappear. PTS can deliver the build and then run the estate day to day — so the design intent survives into live operation.

Technology design consultancy FAQs

Straight answers to what occupiers, developers and project teams in Hong Kong ask us most about technology design consultancy.

What is a technology design consultant?

A technology design consultant is the independent specialist who designs the technology systems in a building or fit-out — audiovisual, IT and networks, structured cabling, and server and comms rooms — and coordinates them with the architect, MEP engineers and project manager. The consultant sets the standard and assures the installation but does not sell the equipment, so the design stays impartial. It is also called ICT design consultancy.

What disciplines do you design?

Audiovisual and experience systems, IT networks and wireless, structured cabling and the floor grid, server and comms rooms (cooling, power and resilience), and the control and automation that ties rooms together. We design them as one integrated system rather than as separate packages.

Are you independent and vendor-neutral?

Yes. We are paid by you, the client — not by a manufacturer or reseller. We run open, like-for-like tenders and specify on merit, which removes the conflict of interest in firms that only design with the products they sell.

Do you work alongside our architect, project manager and MEP engineers?

Yes — that is the role. We sit in the project team as the technology voice, coordinate with the architect, MEP consultants, main contractor and other trades, and speak the same programme language (RIBA work stages) so the technology design stays in step with the build.

Can you design the server room and structured cabling, not just AV?

Yes. Structured cabling design, the floor cabling grid, and server and comms room design — cooling topology, resilient power, heat load and riser strategy — are core engineering disciplines for us, designed to recognised standards and signed off through testing and commissioning.

Do you design for trading floors and dealing rooms?

Yes. High-density dealing environments, live market-data display, and the resilient power, cooling and cabling behind them are a core capability — designed and zoned together with the AV and structured cabling so the floor performs under load.

Do you only design, or can you deliver and run it too?

Both. Many clients take the design and assurance only and deliver with their own contractor; others have us deliver the build as well — see IT projects — and operate it afterwards as managed IT services. Design, deliver, run: you choose how far we go.

What standards do you design to?

Engineering standards appropriate to each discipline — TIA and ISO/IEC 11801 for structured cabling, AVIXA for AV systems, CIBSE and IES for lighting and cooling levels, and resilient-power conventions for server rooms — plus our own ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000 certifications for how we run the work.

How is this different from your IT projects and AV design services?

Think of it as three stages of one journey. This page is the integrated design and assurance — the independent consultant who designs the whole technology picture and stands behind the build. IT projects is the delivery of that build; audiovisual design consultancy is the AV discipline in depth. Most clients use them together, in sequence.

How much does technology design consultancy cost?

It depends on the size of the floor plate, the number of disciplines and how far through delivery you want us to go. We don’t publish fixed fees; we scope your project and return a clear, costed proposal. Talk to PTS to start.
