China IT: Bringing Operations into Compliance

How a Western manufacturer brought its fragmented China sites up to global IT and risk standards: audit, policy alignment and ongoing managed services.

A Western-headquartered multinational with global reach turned to PTS for support in bringing its China-based offices and manufacturing sites up to global IT and risk standards. The client had a mix of mature operations and newly acquired Chinese-owned entities, many of which had evolved independently or via acquisition — resulting in fragmented and non-compliant technology environments.

The Challenge

The China operations faced several key issues:

  • IT infrastructure and practices were inconsistent and not aligned with global compliance policies
  • No local IT support existed — either in time zone or language
  • The client lacked experience executing complex IT transformations in China
  • The HQ team had limited physical access to the sites and needed a partner who could deliver without HQ travel

The Solution

PTS conducted a full IT audit across all China sites, identifying gaps in infrastructure, compliance, and security. Working closely with the client’s global IT teams, we designed and executed a comprehensive IT transformation programme. This included:

  • Aligning all China sites with global technology and compliance standards
  • Establishing consistent IT policies, security frameworks, and operational procedures
  • Rebuilding core infrastructure where required, including network and server environments

Post-Project Support

Following the successful transformation, PTS was engaged to provide ongoing managed services across China. We now deliver:

  • BAU IT support in local language and time zone
  • Proactive monitoring and management of end-user environments, cloud, network, and infrastructure
  • A single point of accountability for IT operations in China, fully aligned with global standards

Why it worked

The client needed a trusted partner who could operate independently, deliver to international standards, and bridge the local execution gap. PTS provided both strategic clarity and operational capability — ensuring long-term stability, compliance, and support across all China sites without the client needing to set foot in-country.
